From July 1, 2025, these banks have announced to change many of their charges and rules. This especially includes credit card use, wallet recharge, ATM transactions, and bank service charges.

HDFC Bank: New charge on online gaming and wallet
If you spend more than Rs 10,000 every month on gaming apps like Dream11, MPL, and Rummy Culture with an HDFC credit card, then now you will have to pay an additional charge of 1%. This charge will be limited to Rs 4,999 per month. Also, no reward points will be given on these transactions.

At the same time, if you load more than Rs 10,000 in a month in third-party wallets (like Paytm, Mobikwik, Freecharge, and Ola Money), then a charge of 1% will be levied on that too. Here also the limit of charge will be up to Rs 4,999 per month.

A charge will also be levied on the Utility Bill.

If you pay more than Rs 50,000 utility bills (electricity, water, gas, etc.) in a month with your HDFC credit card, then now you will have to pay an additional charge of 1%. Here also the maximum limit of charge has been fixed at Rs 4,999. However, there will be no charge on

That is, if you pay the insurance premium with your card, then this charge will not be levied.

What has changed in Rent, Fuel, and Education transactions?

A 1% charge on rent will continue as before. At the same time, a 1% charge will be levied on transactions of more than Rs 15,000 for fuel. But if you pay the fees through the official website of any school or college or a card machine, then there will be no charge. In all these categories also, the maximum charge limit has been fixed at Rs 4,999 per transaction.

ICICI Bank: Increase in ATM, debit card and service charges

ICICI Bank has also announced to implementation of new charges on banking services. Now, services like cash deposit, cheque deposit, demand draft, and pay order will be charged Rs 2 per Rs 1,000. The minimum limit of this charge will be Rs 50, and the maximum limit will be Rs 15,000. Earlier, the bank used to charge Rs 50 for an amount up to Rs 10,000 and Rs 5 for Rs 1,000 above that.

Charges also increased on ATM transactions.
Now if ICICI customers use the ATM of any other bank, then after three free transactions, they will have to pay Rs 23 for financial transactions and Rs 8.5 for non-financial transactions. Earlier this charge was Rs 21.

Annual charges on debit cards also increased.
ICICI Bank has increased the annual charge of debit cards from Rs 200 to Rs 300.

What should customers do?
If you use HDFC or ICICI Bank cards or services, then get complete information about these new rules before July 1. Especially for those who often do gaming, wallet loading or high amount utility payments, this change can affect their pocket.
