Dr. Chandan Pandey, the District Food Safety and Drug Administration Officer in Firozabad, noted that while people often set up shops to start restaurant or dairy businesses, they frequently fail to obtain the necessary license due to a lack of awareness. Consequently, they may face legal action if complaints arise later. Therefore, understanding the licensing process and mandatory regulations is vital before launching a new business.

According to Dr. Chandan Pandey, an FSSAI license is mandatory for any type of food service. It helps maintain food quality and fosters customer trust; hence, obtaining the license from the department before starting the business is essential. The procedure is quite simple.

Applicants must visit the department's FOSCOS website, select the appropriate category, and fill in the required details. The application process necessitates the submission of several documents, including the restaurant's layout plan and the owner's Aadhaar card. The process is designed to be completed within 24 hours of application, after which the license becomes available on the website for the applicant to download.

The officer added that the department actively raises awareness among food business operators in the district. Training sessions focusing on hygiene and purity in food preparation are also conducted, and many participants receive certificates for completing them. Additionally, a campaign under the 'Eat Right India' initiative is currently underway in the district.
