In a significant move to combat tax evasion, the Haryana government has announced a reward scheme for individuals who provide credible information about tax evasion by individuals or firms. Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini unveiled this initiative while addressing the Excise and Taxation Department, aiming to bolster state revenue and promote legal compliance.

Key Highlights of the Scheme:

  1. Reward for Informants:

    • Individuals providing verified information about tax evasion will be rewarded.
    • The government has allocated an initial fund of ₹2 crore for this purpose.
  2. Confidential Reporting:

    • A dedicated portal will be created to ensure anonymity and confidentiality for informants.
    • This system aims to encourage citizens to participate without fear of disclosure.
  3. Boosting State Revenue:

    • By tackling tax evasion, the government seeks to enhance revenue collection and improve governance.

Parallel Initiative Against Drug Abuse:

In addition to curbing tax evasion, Chief Minister Saini announced measures to combat drug abuse in Haryana:

  • A separate portal will allow individuals to report drug trafficking activities anonymously.
  • The Excise and Taxation Department, in coordination with the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau and police, will intensify efforts to combat drug smuggling.
  • Properties acquired through black money from such activities will face attachment.

Guidelines for Liquor Shops:

To address community concerns, CM Saini instructed:

  • Liquor shops in villages must maintain a proper distance from homes, schools, and religious sites.
