New Traffic Rules: Strict action is now being taken against those who repeatedly violate traffic rules. The government may introduce a new point-based system, which could result in the suspension or cancellation of a driving license for violating traffic rules.

New Traffic Rules: Millions of vehicles ply on the roads daily in the country. In this fast-paced world, people often forget traffic rules in their rush to reach their destination. However, these small negligences become the cause of major accidents. Every year, thousands of families lose loved ones in road accidents. Speeding, jumping red lights, driving while talking on the phone, or driving under the influence are no longer just mistakes but alarm bells. In light of this, the government is preparing to further tighten road safety rules. A new system for driver's licenses may be implemented in the future, which will lead to stricter action against repeat offenders, and their licenses could even be revoked.

What is the graded points system?

The new system the government is working on is called the Graded Points System. Under this system, a fixed number of points will be assigned to each driver's license. Any violation of a traffic rule will result in a reduction. Speeding, jumping signals, driving in the wrong direction, or driving under the influence can result in a significant reduction in points.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways believes this system will motivate people to drive responsibly. If a driver loses all their points, their license can be suspended for up to six months. Repeated violations could also result in complete license cancellation. This system is considered a major step toward increasing driving discipline.

Why is this change necessary?

Road safety remains a major challenge in India. Millions of road accidents are reported every year, claiming thousands of lives. The major causes of accidents are overspeeding, not wearing helmets and seat belts, and using mobile phones while driving. Experts believe that simply increasing fines will not completely eliminate the problem.

For this reason, the government is now placing greater emphasis on changing people's mindset and driving habits. The new points-based system will go beyond direct fines and attempt to influence driver behavior. When license points are reduced for violating rules, drivers will become more cautious.
