Biogas Plant Registration: You can now get relief from the high cost of LPG cylinders, as the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has decided to reopen the Biomass Aggregation Machinery (BAM) portal.

Biogas Plant Registration: Rising LPG cylinder prices have become a source of concern for many. Consequently, people are looking for alternatives to expensive cylinders. While many have switched to cooking on induction stoves, others are using their LPG cylinders very sparingly. Amidst this, there is some good news.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has decided to reopen the Biomass Aggregation Machinery (BAM) portal. This will allow people to apply for biogas-related projects. If you wish to apply, the BAM portal will remain open from July 1 to July 30.

Learn about biogas plants

Biogas plants produce gas using cow dung, household organic waste, and agricultural residues. This gas can be used for cooking and performing various essential household tasks. Most importantly, it offers relief from the high cost of LPG.

What is the BAM portal?

It is a platform run by the Central Government's Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Through this portal, operators of Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants can apply for financial assistance to purchase machinery.

Can everyone register?

Please note that this facility is primarily intended for those who wish to set up biogas or CBG plants and are active in this sector. According to the Ministry, eligible producers and plant operators can apply via the portal.

How to apply

You can apply by following a few simple steps:

First, visit the GOBARdhan Portal and register your plant.
Then, visit the BAM portal.
Click on the 'Register' option. Enter the required details—such as your mobile number, email, and name—and create a user ID.
Once logged in, fill out the application form.
Next, upload the necessary documents.
Finally, submit the form.

Is biogas beneficial?

A key advantage is that using biogas ensures better utilization of organic waste.
It also causes less harm to the environment.
Your expenditure on LPG can be reduced.
These are the reasons why the government is working to rapidly promote this sector; it will also reduce people's dependence on LPG.
