Relief Boost Announced for Farmers as MP CM Transfers Aid to Lakhs of Beneficiaries
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has extended a major financial relief package to farmers struggling with crop losses. On the occasion of Dussehra, the state government transferred over ₹653 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 8.84 lakh farmers across different districts.
The relief initiative comes as a much-needed support for cultivators whose crops were damaged due to heavy rainfall, pest attacks, and diseases such as the yellow mosaic virus. With this move, the government aims to ease the economic burden on affected farmers and help them recover in time for the upcoming agricultural cycle.
Focused Relief for Affected Districts
According to officials, the compensation has been disbursed to farmers in areas that suffered the most from natural calamities. Districts like Mandsaur, Khandwa, Vidisha, Burhanpur, Neemuch, Ratlam, Mandla, Shahdol, and Damoh have been prioritized in the distribution. Villages where crop losses exceeded 21 percent were given special attention.
The scheme is structured to provide differentiated assistance based on the type of crop or livestock loss. This year marks the first time that compensation has been extended to soybean farmers impacted by the yellow mosaic virus. Around 4.94 lakh farmers across nearly 1,700 villages have benefited from this provision alone.
First-of-its-Kind Support for Yellow Mosaic
Soybean cultivation, one of Madhya Pradesh’s key agricultural outputs, was hit hard by the yellow mosaic outbreak this season. For the first time, the government has recognized this specific disease as a valid reason for financial compensation. By including yellow mosaic losses under the relief framework, the state has acknowledged a long-standing demand of farmers who previously struggled without targeted support.
Quick and Transparent Digital Transfers
Highlighting the government’s commitment to transparent governance, CM Mohan Yadav emphasized that the relief money was transferred through a single-click digital system. This method ensures that farmers receive assistance directly in their accounts without delays or the need for lengthy paperwork.
The state administration had earlier released an additional ₹230 crore to cover damages caused by floods and excessive rainfall. Together, these measures underline the government’s strategy of offering timely support to those impacted by natural calamities.
Looking Ahead: More Relief Schemes Planned
While distributing the relief, CM Yadav also indicated that more farmer-friendly schemes are in the pipeline. He urged farmers to keep their documents updated so they can access government aid without hurdles. The administration is working to design faster response mechanisms to ensure every affected farmer receives financial help on time.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the ultimate goal of these initiatives is to safeguard farmers’ livelihoods and enable them to continue providing for their families despite agricultural setbacks.
