Relief Amidst Scorching Heatwaves: School Holidays to Begin from April 20 in This State; CM Makes Announcemen
In view of the severe heat and heatwaves, the Chhattisgarh government—prioritizing the health of children—has declared summer holidays for schools from April 20 to June 15.
From the national capital, Delhi, to several other states across the country, the sun seems to be spewing fire. Stepping out during the afternoon heat has become extremely difficult. After a few days of mild respite, the heat has once again returned with full intensity. The streets are deserted, markets are less crowded, and school-going children are the ones suffering the most. Commuting to and from school daily amidst the scorching sun and heatwaves was becoming an arduous task for them. Against this backdrop, a piece of relieving news has emerged from Chhattisgarh.
State Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has taken a significant decision, placing the health of children above all else. He has announced that this year, summer holidays will commence earlier than scheduled to ensure that children remain safe from this severe heat.
CM's Announcement: Holidays to Begin from April 20
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai shared this information via a post on the social media platform 'X'. He wrote that, considering the rising temperatures and heatwaves across the state, safeguarding the health of children is the government's primary responsibility. With this in mind, the summer holidays for schools are being implemented ahead of schedule.
Consequently, all schools across the state will observe summer vacation from April 20 to June 15. This decision comes at a time when temperatures are continuously rising and the risk of heatwaves has intensified. The government believes that children should rest at home during this period to ensure that their health remains unaffected.
Relief from the Scorching Afternoons
It is frequently observed that during the months of April and May, temperatures soar past the 40-degree mark. Under such conditions, even walking in the sun or waiting for a bus becomes a struggle for young children. Reports of children falling ill due to the heat also frequently emerge from various regions. This decision will bring significant relief to thousands of students and their parents. Students will no longer have to worry about commuting to school under the scorching sun; instead, they can stay safe at home and find respite from the heat.
Over Six Weeks of Vacation
Commencing on April 20 and extending until June 15, these holidays will span a duration of over six weeks. This period will serve as an opportunity for children to rest, spend time at home, and escape the summer heat. Schools are scheduled to reopen following the vacation. Concurrently, the admission process for the 11th grade will also commence. In other words, the lively bustle will return to the schools once the holidays conclude.
