There is significant and crucial news for devotees of Lord Shiva and Kanwar committees residing in Delhi. A high-level meeting was held at the Delhi Secretariat on June 4 to ensure the 2026 Kanwar Yatra is completely safe and comfortable. It was decided during this meeting that the registration of all Kanwar committees would commence on July 1, 2026. Presided over by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the review meeting issued clear directives ensuring that devotees of Lord Shiva face no difficulties along the route.

A special six-member committee, led by Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra, has been formed to oversee the entire pilgrimage and ensure improved facilities; this committee will coordinate with all relevant departments. Let us explore what to expect this year, ranging from the registration process to special arrangements.

If you are setting up a Kanwar camp or organizing a *Bhandara* (community feast) in Delhi, ensure you register on time. Setting up a camp without registration will not be permitted.
When does Sawan 2026 begin?

This year, the holy month of Sawan promises to be particularly special for Kanwar pilgrims and devotees of Lord Shiva. According to the *Panchang* (Hindu almanac), this holy month begins on Thursday, July 30, and continues until August 28. This means the chants of "Bam-Bam Bhole" will resonate across Delhi and its surrounding areas for an entire month. The government is fully focused on ensuring that devotees receive facilities akin to those provided to VIP guests throughout the month. Major bodies—including the Delhi Government, Delhi Police, MCD, and PWD—have joined forces to make this pilgrimage a success. This time, Kanwar camps will offer a range of excellent facilities.

Government arrangements for Kanwariyas:
Register your Kanwar committee on time.
Begin the pilgrimage only after undergoing a health check-up.
Adhere to the guidelines issued by the administration.
Do not disregard safety rules during the pilgrimage.
Essential guidelines for Kanwar committees:

1. If you are setting up a Kanwar camp or organizing a *Bhandara* in Delhi, ensure you register on time. Camps cannot be set up without registration. Therefore, as soon as the registration window opens on July 1, make sure to complete the registration for your committee—either online or through the prescribed procedure—as a priority.

2. Special attention must be paid to cleanliness in and around the camp, in coordination with the MCD.

3. Details regarding the volunteers and the people visiting the camp must be shared with the local police.

4. The Chief Minister has clearly stated that ensuring the safety and service of every *Shiv-bhakt* (devotee of Lord Shiva) passing through Delhi is our primary responsibility. The government will provide all possible assistance to the *Kanwar* camps.
