Number of Rural and Urban Home Guard Posts
This recruitment drive includes 635 posts for rural Home Guards and 137 posts for urban Home Guards. For rural posts, candidates must be local residents of the specific block in Deoghar district from which they are applying. Similarly, for urban Home Guard posts, candidates must be residents of the relevant urban area within Deoghar district. A provision exists to reserve 50 percent of the total posts for female candidates. Additionally, within the women's reservation quota, five percent of the posts are earmarked for widows, divorcees, or abandoned women.
Candidates Who Have Passed 7th or 8th Grade Can Apply
For rural Home Guard posts, candidates must have passed at least the 7th grade. For urban Home Guard posts, the minimum educational qualification is a 10th-grade pass. Candidates possessing technical skills can apply for technical category posts in urban areas. These include roles such as doctors, engineers, nurses, computer operators, typists, drivers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, cooks, and others involved in technical work. A technical proficiency certificate issued by the competent authority is required for these roles.
Age Limit and Physical Standards
Candidates must be between 19 and 40 years of age as of January 1, 2026. Applicants must also meet specific physical requirements. The minimum height requirement for male candidates in the General, OBC, and BC categories is 162 cm, while for male candidates in the SC and ST categories, it is 157 cm. Female candidates across all categories must have a minimum height of 148 cm. Male candidates must also meet the prescribed chest measurement standards.
Selection via Running, Hindi Writing, and Technical Tests
Candidates for the Home Guard recruitment must undergo several stages of the selection process. This includes physical tests featuring activities such as running, high jump, long jump, and shot put. Candidates who qualify in the physical test will be required to take a Hindi writing proficiency test. This test carries 100 marks, and securing a minimum of 30 marks is mandatory. A technical proficiency test will also be conducted for candidates in the 'Urban Technical' category. Final selection will be based on the candidates' performance and the prescribed procedure.
