Recruitment for 710 Apprentice Posts at SAIL Bhilai; Opportunities for ITI Holders to Graduates
An opportunity awaits at SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant. SAIL BSP has invited applications for a total of 710 apprentice positions—comprising Trade Apprentices, Technician Apprentices, and Graduate Apprentices—for the 2026-27 period.
Young individuals seeking government apprenticeships have an opportunity at the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Bhilai Steel Plant. SAIL BSP has invited applications for a total of 710 apprentice positions—comprising Trade Apprentices, Technician Apprentices, and Graduate Apprentices—for the 2026-27 period. These include 516 ITI trade posts, 124 diploma-level posts, and 70 graduate apprentice posts. To apply, candidates must first register and submit their applications on the relevant apprenticeship portal. Subsequently, eligible candidates will be required to appear for a walk-in process at the Bhilai Steel Plant on the scheduled dates.
A total of 516 seats have been allocated for Trade Apprentices. These include 95 posts for Electricians, 80 for Fitters, 35 for Instrument Mechanics, and 25 for Manufacturing Process Control and Automation. Additionally, there are 20 posts each for Technician Mechatronics and Electronic Mechanics, 25 for Machinists, and 15 each for Turners and Welders. There are 20 posts for Mechanic Refrigeration & AC, 16 for Central AC Plant Mechanics, and 15 each for Diesel Mechanics, ICTSM, and AOCP. Seats have also been designated for trades such as Tool & Die Maker, LACP, Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Wood Work Technician, both Stenographer trades, IT, Mason, and others. There are six positions for hospital housekeeping.
Opportunities for Diploma and Graduate Candidates
There are a total of 124 positions for Technician (Diploma) Apprentices. These include 20 posts for Metallurgy, 10 each for Civil and Electrical engineering, and 10 each for Mechanical and Electronics & Telecommunication engineering. Positions are also available in Computer Science, EEE, IT, Automobile, and other subjects. Seats have also been allocated for diploma courses such as GNM, Physiotherapy, and D.Pharma. There are 70 positions for Graduate Apprentices; these cover disciplines such as Civil, Metallurgy, Electronics & Instrumentation, and Production, as well as BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, and BSc Nursing.
Who is eligible for this recruitment?
For this SAIL-BSP apprenticeship recruitment, candidates must have completed the relevant qualification as regular students in the years 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026. ITI candidates must possess an ITI certification in the relevant trade from a recognized institute, while Diploma and Graduate candidates require qualifications in the relevant subjects. Candidates must be between 18 and 28 years of age as of October 31, 2026. Age relaxation will be provided to reserved categories in accordance with government regulations.
What is the stipend?
Selected ITI Trade Apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of ₹9,600. Meanwhile, the stipend for Diploma and Graduate Apprentices is set at ₹12,300 per month.
When and where will the walk-in process take place?
After applying online, candidates will be required to participate in a walk-in process based on their trade and branch. This process will be conducted from October 27 to November 21, 2026. The reporting time is scheduled between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM. The walk-in event will be held at Room No. 123, HRDC, Bhilai Steel Plant, Chhattisgarh - 490001. Separate dates have been designated for different trades and branches. The process for ITI trades will commence on October 27.
How to apply?
Candidates for ITI trades must first register on the Apprenticeship India-NAPS portal. Subsequently, they need to search for “SAIL Bhilai Steel Plant” under apprenticeship opportunities and apply for the relevant trade. Candidates with diploma or graduate qualifications must register as students on the NATS portal. Thereafter, they need to navigate to the “Establishment Request” section, select “Steel Authority of India Limited, Bhilai Steel Plant,” and apply for their respective branches. The deadline for applying on the portal is October 20.
