Recruitment for 655 Posts in MP Police: Opportunity for 12th-Pass Candidates

The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) has issued a notification for recruitment to the posts of Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer and Assistant Sub-Inspector within the Police Headquarters and the Home (Police) Department.

This is an opportunity for 12th-pass youths in Madhya Pradesh who are preparing for government jobs to join the police department. A total of 655 appointments will be made through this recruitment drive. The online application process begins on September 24, and candidates can apply until October 8, 2026. The written examination is scheduled to commence on November 3, 2026.

Which posts are included in the recruitment?

The recruitment covers the posts of Subedar (Ministerial), Stenographer and Assistant Sub-Inspector. For the post of Subedar, there are 125 vacancies in the General Branch and 10 in the Special Branch. For the post of Assistant Sub-Inspector, the vacancies are allocated as follows: 100 in the General Branch, 370 in Field Units, 25 in the Special Branch, and 25 in the CID. Thus, a total of 655 posts are to be filled.

12th-pass candidates are eligible to apply

Candidates must have passed the 12th standard to apply for either post. However, specific technical qualifications are required depending on the post. For instance, candidates for the Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer post must possess a Hindi shorthand speed of 100 words per minute. A valid CPCT Hindi typing score card, along with a qualification in Hindi shorthand from a recognized board, polytechnic, or ITI, is mandatory. Additionally, a one-year computer-related diploma is required. For the Assistant Sub-Inspector (Ministerial) post, a valid CPCT Hindi typing score card is required in addition to having passed the 12th standard. In addition to a one-year computer diploma, technical qualifications such as BE, B.Tech, MCA, BCA, M.Sc. (Computer Science/IT), and AICTE-recognized polytechnic diplomas in relevant fields are also valid.

What is the age limit?

Age will be calculated based on October 8, 2026. The maximum age limit is 33 years for male candidates from the general category and male candidates from outside Madhya Pradesh. Female candidates from all categories in Madhya Pradesh, as well as male candidates belonging to the state's SC, ST, and OBC categories, can apply up to the age of 38. The maximum age limit is 38 years for male Vikram Award recipients, while it is 42 years for female Vikram Award recipients and male Vikram Award recipients belonging to reserved categories. Eligible candidates residing in Madhya Pradesh under the Inter-caste Marriage Incentive Scheme may receive an additional 5-year relaxation in the age limit.

What is the salary?

The salary for the post of Subedar (Ministerial) ranges from ₹36,200 to ₹1,14,800. For the post of Assistant Sub-Inspector (Ministerial), the salary is fixed between ₹19,500 and ₹62,000. Pension provisions will also apply to selected candidates.

How will the selection be conducted?

The selection process will comprise a computer-based written examination and a skill test. The written examination will carry 100 marks and consist of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs); the duration of the exam will be 2 hours. Following the written exam, candidates numbering seven times the available vacancies (based on post and category) will be called for the skill test. This test will also carry 100 marks, and securing a minimum of 30 percent marks will be mandatory. For the post of Subedar (Stenographer), the skill test will include two Hindi shorthand examinations. Each will involve a 5-minute dictation at a speed of 100 words per minute. The dictation will carry 20 marks, and the typing component will carry 80 marks. A Hindi typing test will be conducted for the ASI post, requiring candidates to type two passages of 600 words each.

What is the application fee?

The fee for direct applications is ₹500 for the General category and ₹250 for reserved category candidates from Madhya Pradesh. For departmental applications, the fee is set at ₹200 for the General category and ₹100 for the reserved category. Additionally, the portal fee is ₹60 via a kiosk and ₹20 for registered users. For any corrections made to the application, a fee of ₹20 per correction plus a portal fee of ₹40 will be charged.
