The process aims to fill vacant teaching positions in non-government aided schools operating under the Basic and Secondary Education Departments. Number of Posts by Category

This UPESSC recruitment drive includes Assistant Teacher posts across two categories. There are 11,508 posts for ‘Urban Assistant Teachers’ under the Basic Education Department. Additionally, there are 897 posts for ‘Attached Primary Assistant Teachers’ in non-government aided primary schools under the Secondary Education Department. Of the 11,508 Urban Assistant Teacher posts, the breakdown is: 4,746 General, 3,069 OBC, 1,116 EWS, 2,379 SC, and 198 ST. Among the 897 ‘Attached Primary’ posts, the allocation is: 378 General, 164 OBC, 7 EWS, and 348 SC.

Application Process Begins Today

Candidates can apply for these posts from today, September 16, until October 15. The deadline for submitting the application fee is also October 15, while the facility to make corrections to the application form will remain available until October 19. Candidates must complete the ‘One Time Registration’ process before applying. The Commission has advised candidates to carefully read all the terms and conditions mentioned in the notification before filling out the form.

Who can apply?

For the post of Assistant Teacher (Urban), candidates must hold a graduation degree from a recognized university. Additionally, they must possess the requisite qualification in teacher training, such as BTC, two-year BTC (Urdu), Special BTC, D.El.Ed., a 4-year B.Ed., or other recognized teacher training qualifications. Passing the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is also mandatory for candidates. For the post of Assistant Teacher (Attached Primary), candidates require a graduation degree along with an NCTE-recognized BTC or D.El.Ed. qualification and must have passed the TET (conducted by the Uttar Pradesh government or the Government of India) for Classes 1 to 5.

Age Limit and Application Fee

For the Urban Assistant Teacher post, the candidate’s age must be between 21 and 40 years as of July 1, 2026. Age relaxation will be granted in accordance with the applicable rules. Regarding the application fee, it is ₹1,000 for candidates belonging to specified categories, including OBC and EWS. The fee is ₹500 for SC and ST candidates, while it is ₹300 for differently-abled candidates.
