PIB Fact Check has now revealed the truth behind this viral story. PIB shared a screenshot of the letter via its official X (Twitter) account, clearly marking it as 'FAKE'. This means the claim is completely baseless. The caption accompanying the post reads: "A letter purportedly from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is going viral on the internet. It claims that a refundable tax of ₹7,500 must be paid to receive a stuck amount of ₹1,00,000."


It further states: "According to PIB Fact Check, this letter is fake. The RBI never contacts the general public via unsolicited phone calls or emails to request money or any personal information.
