Digital Ration System: The Delhi Government is preparing to implement a Smart-PDS system, which will fully digitize ration card services. Let’s look at the major benefits this offers to cardholders.

Delhi Ration Card Rule: If you use a ration card in Delhi, you can look forward to easier, digital services in the near future. The Delhi Government is preparing to launch a Smart-PDS system to digitize the Public Distribution System (PDS). Under this new arrangement, all services related to ration cards will move online, and new technology will be used to verify the identity of beneficiaries.

The biggest advantage of this system is that ration cardholders will no longer need to make repeated visits to government offices for any task. Additionally, information regarding the entire process—from ration supply to distribution—can be tracked online.

Ration distribution via QR code and face scan

Ration cards will be upgraded to QR code-based smart cards.
Facial recognition technology will be used to identify beneficiaries.
Individuals whose fingerprints do not match will be able to collect their rations using face authentication.
This is expected to provide significant relief to the elderly and laborers.

Curbing black marketing and fake ration cards

The government states that the implementation of the Smart-PDS system will help significantly curb fake ration cards, duplicate entries, and black marketing. Before rolling out the project, the government has constituted a 16-member User Acceptance Testing (UAT) committee to evaluate the entire system.

All ration-related services to go online

You can track information regarding ration issuance and distribution from the comfort of your home.
Facilities to add new members or remove names from the ration card will also be available online.
Document uploads and application status checks can be done digitally.
This will save you a considerable amount of time and eliminate the need to rely on government offices.
