Ration Card Update: The government runs essential schemes for the economically weaker sections and the needy. If you avail of government ration benefits, this news is relevant to you. Imagine visiting a ration shop only to realize you’ve left your ration card at home—it can be a stressful situation. However, did you know you can still get your rations without physically carrying the card? If not, read on to find out.

Information shared in an 'X' post

The government has issued a post on its official social media platform, X, clarifying that if an eligible beneficiary visits a shop to collect rations but forgets their ration card at home, they will still be provided with the supplies. In such cases, the beneficiary's Aadhaar card will be required.

How to get rations using Aadhaar?

People often forget to carry their ration cards due to haste or oversight, but there is no need to panic. Even if you do not have your ration card at the shop, you can still receive rations using your Aadhaar. Under the ONORC (One Nation One Ration Card) facility, your identity can be verified using Aadhaar. The purpose of checking Aadhaar details is to confirm your eligibility to receive rations. If everything is in order, the rations will be issued to you.

What is the procedure?

The process begins with verification using the ePoS machine installed at the ration shop; this involves scanning your iris and matching your fingerprints. Once the details are verified successfully, the rations are issued. In other words, even if you forget your ration card, you can still obtain your rations through the ONORC facility.
