Ramnagar-Dehradun Train: The Central Government has approved a direct rail service between Ramnagar and Dehradun in Uttarakhand, offering passengers relief from long journeys and reducing their dependence on buses and taxis.

Uttarakhand Railway News: Good news has arrived for travelers in Uttarakhand. The Central Government has granted approval to launch a new direct rail service between Ramnagar and Dehradun. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw officially conveyed this approval through a letter addressed to Garhwal MP and BJP National Media Chief, Anil Baluni.

This news brings relief to the thousands of passengers who, until now, either had to take a circuitous route or rely on buses and taxis to travel between Ramnagar and Dehradun.

Baluni Raised the Demand in January

The groundwork for this rail service was laid when MP Anil Baluni met with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in January and urged him to introduce a direct train service between Ramnagar and Dehradun. At the time, Baluni emphasized that this route was not merely a necessity for passengers but was also crucial for the economic and tourism development of the region. Approximately four months later, the Railway Minister’s approval has turned that demand into reality.

What Benefits Will Passengers Enjoy?

Ramnagar serves as the gateway to Corbett National Park, while Dehradun is the state capital. The absence of a direct rail link between these two cities previously caused significant inconvenience to travelers. Now that this train is set to run, travel time will be reduced, travel costs will decrease, and—most importantly—passengers will have access to a comfortable and reliable travel option. This service will also prove to be immensely beneficial for tourists visiting Corbett National Park.

Uttarakhand Has Received Several Rail-Related Gifts in the Past

MP Baluni noted that this is not the first instance in which the Central Government has bestowed gifts upon Uttarakhand in the form of enhanced railway facilities. Prior to this, the Naini Doon Express was introduced between Kathgodam and Dehradun; rail connectivity was established from Kotdwar to New Delhi; and the Vande Bharat Express was also launched between Dehradun and Lucknow. In other words, the state’s rail network has witnessed continuous expansion over the past few years.

The Centre’s Stance Has Always Been Sensitive: Baluni

Upon receiving the letter from the Railway Minister, MP Baluni expressed his gratitude, stating that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has consistently remained positive and sensitive regarding the needs of the people of Uttarakhand. He remarked that this rail service would not merely connect two cities, but would also provide fresh momentum to the socio-economic development of the entire region.

Currently, the operational date and schedule for the rail service are yet to be announced; however, following the receipt of approval, it is expected that its formal launch will take place very soon. This news is being warmly welcomed in Ramnagar and the surrounding areas.
