Even today, many obstacles related to caste are seen in our society. Often, people are unable to marry simply because they belong to different castes.

The Rajasthan government is continuously running several schemes to promote equality, brotherhood, and mutual understanding in society. One of these important schemes is the Dr. Savita Ben Ambedkar Inter-Caste Marriage Promotion Scheme. This scheme aims to break down social barriers based on caste and encourage people to marry without any discrimination.

Even today, many obstacles related to caste are seen in our society. Often, people are unable to marry simply because they belong to different castes. To change this mindset and give respect to inter-caste marriages, the Rajasthan government provides financial assistance under this scheme.

How much financial assistance is provided under the scheme?

If a young man or woman from a Scheduled Caste (SC) marries a young man or woman from a higher Hindu caste, the government assists Rs 10 lakh. This Rs 10 lakh is given in two installments. The first installment of Rs 5 lakh is deposited as a Fixed Deposit (FD), which remains locked for 8 years, and the remaining Rs 5 lakh is deposited directly into the joint bank account of the couple. This not only provides immediate financial assistance to the couple but also provides security for the future.

Who can benefit from the scheme?

To avail of this scheme, certain necessary conditions must be met. For example, one of the spouses must belong to a Scheduled Caste (SC), the SC person must be a resident of Rajasthan, both should not be older than 35 years, the girl's age should be at least 18 years and the boy's age should be 21 years, and the total annual income of the couple should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. The marriage must be consensual and without any coercion, and it should be the first marriage for both.
