Rajasthan: Consumers shocked by 100 units of free electricity, Bhajanlal government has now taken this decision
It has been more than seven months since the Bhajanlal government of Rajasthan has been working and during this time the government has stopped many schemes of the Gehlot government and changed the names of many schemes. In such a situation, now there is another scheme on which the Bhajanlal government has taken action. Yes, the Bhajanlal government has suspended the free electricity scheme and free smartphone scheme of the previous Gehlot government.
What has been done about this scheme
If media reporters are to be believed, the Bhajanlal government has made it clear that now new people will not be added to the scheme of giving 100 units of free electricity. Along with this, the smartphone scheme will also be suspended for the time being. The government has given this information in the assembly in response to the questions asked about both schemes. Congress MLA Vikas Chaudhary had asked a question regarding free smartphones and BJP MLA Radheshyam Bairwa had asked a question regarding the Chief Minister's free electricity scheme.

On the question of giving smartphones to women deprived of smartphones, the government has clarified that the scheme of distributing smartphones was postponed after the code of conduct for assembly elections came into force on 9 October 2023 last year. Under this scheme, a provision of Rs 1811.30 crore was made in the financial year 2023-24. Out of this, Rs 1745.22 crore has been spent. The next decision on the smartphone scheme will be taken after examining the benefits to women and public interest from this scheme. On the question of the Free Electricity Scheme, Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar said in a written reply that the benefit of the Chief Minister Free Electricity Scheme is being given to those registered domestic consumers who have registered a domestic connection with a Jan Aadhar. However the government has no plan to benefit the deprived consumers.
