Railways: Train Ticket Scammers: No More Tricks—You Will Be Caught Instantly..
In recent times, Indian Railways has detected numerous instances of ticket tampering and the use of AI-generated tickets. Such cases of fraud pose a significant threat to the Railways' revenue. With this in mind—and with the specific objective of apprehending the individuals involved—the Railways has initiated measures to combat this issue. As part of this initiative, railway staff are undergoing specialized training to enable them to easily identify such fraudulent tickets.
To ensure transparency and enhance the security of ticketing technology, the Agra Division of North Central Railway organized a special workshop dedicated to preventing potential fraud involving UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) and ATVM (Automatic Ticket Vending Machine) tickets. The workshop was attended by ticket-checking staff and employees from the Commercial Department representing various major stations within the division, including Agra Fort, Idgah, Mathura Junction, Agra Cantt, and Dholpur Junction.
During the workshop, discussions focused on the potential misuse of unreserved tickets and tickets issued through Automatic Ticket Vending Machines. The participating officials and staff members were briefed on how to identify potential fraud and irregularities within the ticketing process, how to monitor suspicious activities, and how to implement both technical and practical measures to prevent fraudulent acts.
Furthermore, the ticket-checking staff was instructed to refine their ticket inspection procedures, utilize modern technologies, and exercise heightened vigilance. The workshop also emphasized that maintaining the credibility of the ticketing system is a primary responsibility of the Railways, and that any form of irregularity in this regard will not be tolerated. Indian Railways plans to gradually organize similar workshops across other divisions as well, with the ultimate goal of minimizing—or eliminating—fraudulent train ticketing activities, thereby preventing any loss of revenue to the Railways.
