Railways: Not everyone will get general coach tickets, rules are going to change, a trial is going on at this station..

Indian Railways recently took two big decisions. For the safety of passengers, the Railways has taken a big decision to install CCTV cameras in all coaches and rail engines. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that cameras will be installed in all 74 thousand coaches and 15 thousand engines. Microphones will also be installed along with the camera. A total of 6 cameras will be installed in each engine. All cameras will be equipped with advanced systems. These cameras will be able to provide good footage even at a speed of 100 kmph and in low light. However, the cameras will be installed in such a way that the privacy of the passengers is maintained. Mischievous elements will be identified by installing cameras. Indian Railways has made a big change in the rules of Tatkal ticket booking.
From July 15, 2025, Aadhaar OTP will be required on the IRCTC website or app to make bookings. Railways wants to bring transparency to Tatkal ticket booking. This step has been taken to stop the arbitrariness of brokers or fake agents. Railways is also preparing to take another big decision to control the crowd boarding trains. The trial of the pilot project is going on at New Delhi Railway Station.
According to the pilot project, only 150 passengers will get tickets in the unreserved coach. The software being used for this trial only counts the tickets of the trains that are going to run in the next three hours. If the trial is successful, it will be implemented across the country. An accident took place at New Delhi Railway Station in February during Maha Kumbh. Since then, many steps have been taken to control the crowd at the station. Railways have also fixed the number of tickets to be issued for AC and sleeper trains. Currently, there is no rule to limit the sale of unreserved tickets. Their sale continues continuously. Many times more than 350 passengers enter the unreserved coach.
Only 150 unreserved tickets will be issued.
If the experiment is successful, only 150 tickets will be issued in each unreserved coach. At intermediate stations, only 20 percent of tickets will be issued according to the capacity of the coach. Let us understand this with an example. If four coaches in a train are unreserved, then only 600 tickets can be issued.
Unreserved tickets will be made for trains running in three hours.
The software used for the trial counts the unreserved tickets of trains running in three hours. Suppose four trains are going to leave from New Delhi Railway Station for Patna in the next three hours. If four coaches in each train are unreserved, then tickets will be issued for a total of 16 coaches. Their number will not exceed 2400. After this, general tickets will stop being issued.
Third AC passengers will get relief.
At present, passengers with unreserved tickets enter the third AC coach. Due to the crowd, the third AC passengers have to face the most trouble. Every day pictures go viral on social media that the third AC has become a general coach. With the rule of unreserved tickets, third AC passengers will also get relief.
