He stated that the contractor has been granted Kerala's first electric vehicle bike rental license, which will enable the service to operate in a fully compliant and smooth manner. These e-bikes are valid for use throughout the country, allowing passengers to travel freely.

A railway official explained that a large number of people visit beaches, historical sites, and markets. However, they are often unable to do so due to the high charges of taxis and other vehicles. However, the introduction of this facility will solve their problems. They will not only have a fast and economical travel option, but it will also be environmentally friendly.

The railway believes that this facility will benefit a large number of passengers, tourists, students, and professionals traveling by train from nearby towns. Furthermore, short-distance travelers who need to travel to various locations within the city will also reduce their dependence on autos or taxis.

How much will the electric motorcycles cost?

According to Southern Railway, the fare for each vehicle is fixed on an hourly basis. The starting price is ₹50 per hour. However, if a passenger books a bike for 12 hours, they will have to pay ₹500, while for 24 hours, it will cost ₹750.

Zero-emission transportation will receive a boost.
The Railways says that given the increasing passenger traffic at Kozhikode station, the electric vehicle bike service will make commuting in the city easier, more economical, and time-saving. This initiative will contribute to a cleaner urban environment by promoting zero-emission transportation. A senior official stated that this pilot project has been launched in the Palakkad division. If the results are positive, it may be considered for expansion in other locations as well.
