Before the start of the new year, the Railways has provided significant relief to young people preparing for government jobs. The Railway Recruitment Board has released a major update regarding the Group D recruitment. For candidates who have been waiting for this recruitment for a long time, the application date has also been announced. This recruitment drive is aimed at filling 22,000 Level 1 positions across the country, providing opportunities to millions of individuals.

The short notification for Railway Group D recruitment was issued on December 12, 2025. The new notification now details the application process. Candidates will be able to apply online from January 21, 2026, to February 20, 2026. Applications will be made on the official railway website, rrbapply.gov.in.
Which positions will be filled and what will be the eligibility criteria?
This recruitment drive will fill positions across various departments. The Engineering Department has the highest number of Track Maintainer Grade-IV positions, with 11,000. Additionally, there are 5,000 Pointsman-B positions, and the Electronics Department includes Assistant TRD, TL&AC, Operations, and Loco Shed positions. A large number of vacancies have also been announced in the Mechanical and S&T departments. In total, 22,000 positions will be filled under this recruitment process. For Group D recruitment, candidates must have passed the 10th standard. Candidates holding a National Apprenticeship Certificate from an NCVT-accredited institute are also eligible to apply. The minimum age limit is 18 years and the maximum is 36 years. In addition, a physical test will be conducted along with a written exam for this recruitment.
Application Fee and Selection Process
The application fee for General, OBC, and EWS category candidates is ₹500. SC, ST, EBC, female, and transgender candidates will have to pay ₹250. Selection for Group D recruitment will be conducted in four stages: first, a computer-based test, followed by a physical efficiency test, document verification, and finally, a medical exam.
