Railways’ Raksha Bandhan Gift: 14 Special Trains to Run – Where Will They Go from Delhi-NCR?

Here is important news for those traveling home for Raksha Bandhan. Anticipating the festive rush, Northern Railway has decided to operate 14 special trains on various routes, including those serving Delhi-NCR. Read on for full details.

Railways has expanded travel options for passengers planning to head home for Raksha Bandhan. In view of the expected crowds during the festival, Northern Railway has scheduled the operation of 14 special trains across different routes. These include six unreserved trains connecting Delhi-NCR to nearby cities, alongside eight special services for long-distance travelers. These trains will operate on various dates ranging from the last week of August to the beginning of September.

Six Local Special Trains for Delhi-NCR Passengers

To facilitate short-distance travel, Northern Railway has arranged six unreserved special trains. These services will provide additional travel options for passengers commuting between Delhi and major nearby cities.

  • The Tilak Bridge-Muzaffarnagar Special Train (04402/04401) will run from Tilak Bridge on August 27 and 28. It will also operate in the return direction on these same dates.
  • The Panipat-Old Delhi Special Train (04404/04403) will also operate on August 27 and 28.
  • The Ambala Cantt-Panipat Special Train (04406) will run on August 27 and 28.
  • The Shahdara-Shamli Special Train (04408/04407) will also operate on August 27 and 28.
  • The Hazrat Nizamuddin-Mathura Special Train (04410/04409) will be available to passengers on August 27 and 28.
  • The Ghaziabad-Aligarh Special Train (04412/04411) will also run on August 27 and 28.

Two Superfast Special Trains Between New Delhi and Kanpur

Two special trains have been arranged for long-distance passengers traveling between New Delhi/Anand Vihar Terminal and Kanpur Central. The New Delhi-Kanpur Central Raksha Bandhan Superfast Special (02456/02455) will depart from New Delhi at 7:15 AM on August 28, 29, and 31, and September 2 and 4. On the return leg, the train will depart from Kanpur Central at 1:30 PM on the same day. Meanwhile, the Anand Vihar Terminal-Kanpur Central Raksha Bandhan Superfast Special (02458/02457) will depart from Anand Vihar Terminal at 7:20 AM on August 30 and September 1 and 3. In the return direction, it will depart from Kanpur Central at 1:30 PM on the same day.

Additional Trains on the Jhansi-Hazrat Nizamuddin Route

Two special trains will operate between Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi and Hazrat Nizamuddin during Raksha Bandhan. The Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi-Hazrat Nizamuddin Special (01901/01902) will depart from Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi at 11:00 AM on August 27 and 28. On the return journey, it will depart from Hazrat Nizamuddin at 7:30 PM. On the same route, the Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi-Hazrat Nizamuddin Special (01903/01904) will depart from Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi at 7:20 PM from August 26 to 30. In the return direction, it will depart from Hazrat Nizamuddin at 4:10 AM from August 27 to 31.

Option Available for Travelers from Khajuraho to Delhi

The Khajuraho-Hazrat Nizamuddin Special (01913/01914) will depart from Khajuraho at 5:00 PM on August 26, 28, and 30. On the return journey, this train will depart from Hazrat Nizamuddin at 11:10 AM on August 27, 29, and 31.

Three Special Services Between Subedarganj and Shakurbasti

  • Northern Railway has also announced the operation of three special train services between Subedarganj and Shakurbasti.
  • The Subedarganj-Shakurbasti Weekly Special Train (02275/02276) will depart from Subedarganj at 10:30 PM on August 25, 28, and 30.
  • In the return direction, this train will depart from Shakurbasti at 12:00 PM on August 26, 29, and 31.
  • The Subedarganj-Shakurbasti Weekly Special Train (04147/04148) will depart from Subedarganj at 10:30 PM on August 26.
  • On the return journey, this train will depart from Shakurbasti at 12:00 PM on August 27.
  • Additionally, the Subedarganj-Shakurbasti Weekly Special Train (04163/04164) will depart from Subedarganj at 10:30 PM on August 27.
  • In the return direction, this train will depart from Shakurbasti at 12:00 PM on August 28.

14 Special Trains to Expand Travel Options

Amidst the surge in passenger movement around Raksha Bandhan, these arrangements by Northern Railway will provide additional rail options across various routes. Six unreserved local trains will benefit commuters traveling between Delhi-NCR and nearby cities, while long-distance special trains will offer additional services to passengers traveling to destinations such as Kanpur, Jhansi, Khajuraho, and Subedarganj. Passengers are advised to check the schedule—specifically the train number, designated date, and departure time—before traveling, as these special trains will operate on different dates and timings.
