Due to this, passengers traveling in general class will no longer have to travel by hanging or pushing. The railway aims to add more than one thousand general coaches to 370 regular trains by November.

According to the Railway Ministry, this step has been taken keeping in mind the convenience of general class passengers. This will make rail travel easier for more than one lakh passengers per day. The board said in a press release on Tuesday that 583 general bogies have already been installed in many trains.

583 new general coaches have been manufactured between July and October and these have been added to 229 regular trains. This is giving thousands of passengers a chance to travel by sitting.
A senior Railway Board official said, "The process of adding the remaining coaches is going on in all the railway zones and divisions across the country. It will be completed by the end of this month." He said, 'We have started preparations with planning to deal with the festive rush on Holi next year in 2025.
Preparations to add 10,000 general coaches in the next two years
According to the Railway Board, it has planned to add 10,000 non-AC coaches i.e. general coaches in the next two years, after which about eight lakh additional passengers will be able to travel daily. All these 10,000 coaches are of LHB category which ensures advanced safety features and passenger amenities.
Passengers will have an increased chance of getting a seat to sit.
This move is a big relief for rail passengers and shows that the Railways are constantly making efforts for the convenience of passengers. At least four general coaches will be installed in each train. The new coaches will have better facilities for the passengers. With the arrival of new coaches, the number of seats in the general class will increase. This will also increase the chances of passengers getting a seat to sit.
