Traveling by train is easy on normal days, but if we talk about festivals like Diwali, then it is difficult to get tickets because at this time there is high demand and tickets need to be booked in advance. If you find yourself without a confirmed ticket during these busy times, follow these tips-

Understanding the waiting ticket rule

Confirmed ticket requirement: Confirmed tickets are necessary to travel by train. Indian Railways provides a provision for passengers with waiting tickets.

Types of waiting tickets:

Window waiting ticket: If you have a waiting ticket purchased from the window of the railway station, you can still travel by train.

Online waiting tickets: Online waiting tickets are not valid for travel if you do not have a confirmed seat. These tickets can be canceled and refunded only if they are not confirmed.

Travel with window waiting tickets:

During festivals: If you have a window waiting ticket, you can board the train. The Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) cannot stop you from traveling.

Available seats: If there are any vacant seats, you can request the TTE to allow you to sit on one of them.

Action for online waiting tickets: If you only have an online waiting ticket, it is important to know that it will not be valid for travel.
