There are specific rules and regulations that all passengers must follow while traveling with Indian Railways. One major rule is that no person can enter the platform without a valid ticket. Platform tickets are a must for all those who enter the platform area without the intention to travel, without a platform ticket, individuals run the risk of being penalized if caught by the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE).

A common question that arises is how long to stay on the platform with a platform ticket. As per Indian Railways rules, a platform ticket allows a person to stay on the platform for two hours. If one exceeds this time limit, he or she may have to pay a fine of up to Rs 250.
