In Sleeper Class, you can carry up to 40 kg for free; additionally, you can carry up to a maximum of 80 kg by paying a fee.
In Second Class, you can carry up to 35 kg for free; additionally, you can carry up to a maximum of 70 kg by paying a fee.
In AC 3-Tier, AC 3-Economy, and AC Chair Car, you can carry a maximum of 40 kg of luggage.

There is no facility to increase the luggage allowance by paying a fee in these coaches.

What is the charge for excess luggage?

If a passenger carries luggage exceeding their free allowance, they must pay a fee equal to 1.5 times the standard luggage rate for the excess amount. The minimum charge for excess luggage is ₹30. The fee is calculated based on 10 kg slabs and a minimum distance of 50 kilometers.
