Railway Recruitment: 1,644 Posts for 10th Pass Youth; Direct Selection Without Examination

South East Central Railway has announced recruitment for 1,644 Trade Apprentice posts for the year 2026-27. Candidates who have passed the 10th grade and hold an ITI certificate will be selected directly based on merit, without having to appear for any examination. The application process will commence on May 5 and continue until June 4, 2026. This recruitment drive is specifically for the Raipur Division and the Wagon Repair Shop.

New Delhi: There is great news for young aspirants dreaming of a job with Indian Railways. South East Central Railway (SECR) has issued a recruitment notification for 1,644 Trade Apprentice posts for the year 2026-27. A key highlight of this recruitment is that candidates will not be required to undergo any written examination or interview; selection will be made directly based on merit. This recruitment drive covers vacancies within the Raipur Division and the Wagon Repair Shop. It encompasses various trades, including Fitter, Electrician, Welder, COPA, Mechanic, Stenographer (Hindi/English), and Machinist.

Educational Qualification and Age Limit

To apply for these posts, candidates must have passed the 10th grade from a recognized board. Additionally, securing a minimum of 50 percent marks is mandatory. Furthermore, possession of an ITI certificate in the relevant trade—recognized by either the NCVT or SCVT—is also a prerequisite. The minimum age limit for candidates has been set at 15 years, while the maximum age limit is 24 years. Age calculation will be based on the cutoff date of May 5, 2026. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will be granted age relaxation in accordance with government regulations. A relaxation of 5 years will be provided to SC/ST categories, and 3 years to the OBC category. Persons with Disabilities and Ex-Servicemen will also receive age relaxation as per the applicable rules.

How Selection Will Be Conducted Without an Examination

It is to be noted that this recruitment process involves neither a written examination nor an interview. The merit list for candidates will be prepared based on the marks secured in the 10th grade and the ITI course. Equal weightage—50 percent each—will be assigned to the marks obtained in both the 10th grade and the ITI course. In other words, the final merit list will be prepared based on the average marks obtained in Class 10 and ITI. Selected candidates will subsequently be called for document verification and a medical examination.
