Railways has already made a big announcement regarding Tatkal ticket booking. Aadhar card will be required to book Tatkal tickets from July 1, 2025. The Railway Ministry has issued an order on June 10, 2025. This order states that "This step has been taken to ensure that the benefits of the Tatkal scheme reach the common people."
Aadhaar required
The notice issued by the Railways also states that "From 01-07-2025, it is necessary to authenticate with an Aadhaar card to book Tatkal tickets from IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) website or app." That is, without an Aadhaar card you will not be able to book Tatkal tickets. Not only this, but from July 15, 2025, passengers will have to do one more thing while booking Tatkal tickets. They will also have to authenticate with OTP (One Time Password) through an Aadhaar card. This OTP will come on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card.
How much will the fare increase?
From July 1, now those going from Delhi to Patna will have to pay about Rs 20 more in AC class and about Rs 10 more in non-AC class.
