Delhi Property Tax News: The deadline for paying property tax has been extended for Delhi residents. Citizens can now avail of the rebate by making a lump-sum tax payment by July 31.

Delhi Property Tax 2026: There is welcome news for lakhs of property taxpayers in Delhi. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has extended the payment deadline to ensure that the maximum number of people can benefit from the special 10% rebate offered on lump-sum property tax payments for the 2026-27 financial year. Taxpayers can now avail of this 10% rebate by paying their property tax in a lump sum by July 31, 2026. If you have not yet paid your property tax, do not miss this final opportunity, as the likelihood of this rebate scheme being extended further is considered negligible.

10% rebate benefit available until July 31

Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi stated that while the deadline for lump-sum property tax payment was originally set for June 30, 2026, it has been extended to July 31, 2026, for the convenience of citizens. The aim of this decision is to encourage more taxpayers to pay their taxes on time and to enable them to avail of the special rebate.

Relief for those unable to pay tax on time

The Mayor noted that many property taxpayers were unable to pay their taxes within the stipulated timeframe due to various reasons. This decision was taken with such citizens in mind, allowing them to also benefit from the 10% rebate. The Municipal Corporation is continuously striving to provide better facilities to citizens and encourage timely tax payments.

Financial benefit for citizens; boost to Corporation’s revenue

Pravesh Wahi stated that extending the deadline would provide relief and financial benefits to responsible taxpayers. Additionally, this move is expected to increase the revenue of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The increased revenue will be utilized to further strengthen civic amenities, infrastructure, sanitation systems, healthcare services, and other public welfare initiatives in the capital.

Mayor’s Appeal: Ensure Payment Before the Deadline

The Mayor appealed to all property taxpayers to make the most of this opportunity and avail themselves of the special 10 percent discount by paying their property tax in a lump sum before July 31, 2026. He emphasized that paying taxes on time is also the responsibility of every citizen.

Unlikely That the Deadline Will Be Extended

The Mayor clarified that there is virtually no possibility of extending the current deadline for lump-sum property tax payments. Therefore, instead of waiting until the last moment, taxpayers should deposit their taxes within the stipulated timeframe to avoid any inconvenience.

Mayor Pravesh Wahi expressed confidence that, as always, the residents of Delhi would pay their property taxes on time and make a significant contribution to the development works of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
