LPG Safety Tips: There has been considerable volatility regarding LPG prices over the past few days. Recently, the price of domestic LPG increased by ₹29, and people also faced significant inconvenience due to supply shortages. Another major issue recently—one that has even led to tragedies in some places—is the outbreak of fires. While fires can be caused by various factors—such as AC compressor bursts, refrigerator malfunctions, or electrical appliance failures due to heat—there is another critical cause.

Bihar Police Issues Alert

Apart from the aforementioned causes, gas cylinder explosions are another significant risk. With recent reports of such explosions, the Bihar Police has urged the public to remain vigilant. Furthermore, the police have shared measures via social media to help people prevent accidents and avoid the hazards associated with LPG.

Bihar Police Post

A few days ago, the Bihar Police shared a post on their official X (formerly Twitter) account outlining safe LPG usage practices. The caption read: "Use LPG safely. Do not panic in the event of a gas leak; keep a few important points in mind."

What Measures Should Be Taken?

The measures outlined by the Bihar Police in the post are as follows:

What to do in case of a gas leak?

Immediately turn off the regulator.
Open all doors and windows to allow the gas to escape.
Do not use electrical switches, fans, or other electrical appliances.
Do not use matches, lighters, or any objects that could generate sparks. Move to a safe location and call the gas agency or the emergency service number 112.
It is worth noting that several fire incidents have been reported from various places recently. While most of these were caused by AC units exploding, there have also been instances of gas cylinder blasts, prompting the Bihar Police to issue a warning to the public.
