PNG Users Can Surrender Their LPG Connection from Home—Here's How; Know the Important Details..
How to Surrender an LPG Connection: The ongoing tension in the Middle East is having a visible impact on India as well. Reports of LPG shortages are emerging from various parts of the country. Consequently, a large number of consumers are now giving up their LPG connections and switching to PNG (Piped Natural Gas). Amidst this scenario, there is good news for customers who use PNG. In fact, they will no longer need to visit a dealer in person to surrender their LPG connections; they can now easily complete this process online from the comfort of their homes.
'MyPNG-D Portal' Launched
Neeraj Mittal, Secretary of Petroleum and Natural Gas, announced that consumers who have already started using piped natural gas can now surrender their LPG connections without visiting a dealer. Now, an LPG connection can be surrendered from home simply by using one's registered mobile number or LPG ID. The Ministry has launched a digital platform called the 'MyPNG-D Portal' specifically for PNG users, facilitating the easy surrender of LPG connections.
Why Was This Step Taken?
Sharing details regarding this update, Mittal explained that consumers who have already begun using PNG no longer need to visit a dealer to surrender their LPG connections. This process can now be completed from home, requiring only a registered mobile number or LPG ID. He stated that the objective of this initiative is to simplify the process and encourage as many consumers as possible to voluntarily give up their LPG connections, thereby making these connections available to families that do not yet have access to PNG facilities.
1,797 Consumers Surrender LPG Connections
Secretary Neeraj Mittal revealed that within just one day of the portal's launch, 1,797 consumers had already surrendered their LPG connections. He thanked these users for their participation and urged more people to come forward and support this initiative. The government believes that such measures will help increase access to clean cooking fuel and ensure better distribution of LPG connections, particularly for those who still rely on traditional fuel sources.
