We have told you through our earlier article that the Indian government runs various types of schemes for the economically weaker people of its country, which aim to help these people and uplift the lifestyle, one such scheme is Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, which provides a fixed monthly pension to help the workers secure their financial future in old age. Targeted Beneficiaries: This scheme is especially for the workers of the unorganized sector, where millions of workers live in India.
Pension Amount: Under this scheme, eligible workers get a monthly pension of ₹ 3,000 on attaining the age of 60 years.
Eligibility Criteria:
Workers aged 18 to 40 years can apply for this scheme.
To get the pension, it is necessary to contribute for at least 20 years.
Contribution details:
Workers have to contribute a certain amount to this scheme, which is also matched by the government. For example, if a worker contributes Rs 200, the government also contributes Rs 200.
The premium amount is automatically deducted from the worker's bank account once the account is activated.
Application process:
Workers have to visit their nearest Common Service Center (CSC) to apply.
They have to provide their Aadhaar card and bank details for registration.
The worker receives a confirmation message on his registered mobile number once the account is opened by the CSC official.
Initial contribution: Workers have to deposit the first installment of their premium through cash or cheque upon opening the account.
