Small Business Loan Scheme: Under this government initiative, self-employment is being promoted by providing collateral-free loans to individuals. Women and small business owners are benefiting the most from this scheme.

PMMY Loan: Today, many young people prefer starting their own businesses rather than taking up a job. However, due to a lack of information and financial constraints, many are unable to establish their own ventures. The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) steps in to assist them with this challenge. Under this scheme, small shopkeepers and entrepreneurs are provided with financial assistance to support their businesses.

Sharing official data, the government has stated that over the last 11 years, a total of 57.79 crore individuals have been granted loans. The aggregate value of these loans amounts to ₹40.07 lakh crore. This scheme has turned the dreams of many people—of owning their own businesses—into reality. Let's take a closer look at the details...

Starting a Business is Simple

The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana has emerged as a convenient option for those looking to start a small business or expand an existing one. Under this scheme, loans of up to ₹20 lakh can be availed without any collateral for non-agricultural and non-governmental activities.

The loans are categorized into four segments based on specific requirements: Shishu Loans (up to ₹50,000), Kishor Loans (₹50,000 to ₹5 lakh), Tarun Loans (₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh), and Tarun Plus (₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh). These funds can be utilized to establish small businesses such as shops, dairy farms, or poultry farms. You, too, can take advantage of this scheme to launch your own business venture.

Support for First-Time Entrepreneurs

The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana has paved an easier path for individuals contemplating the launch of their own enterprises. According to official statistics, approximately 12.15 crore loans have been disbursed to first-time entrepreneurs. The total value of these loans stands at approximately ₹12 lakh crore. Union Minister of State Pankaj Chaudhary states that this initiative ensures small business owners do not have to rely on moneylenders, thereby preventing them from falling into a debt trap.

Women Attain Self-Reliance

Women are benefiting the most from this scheme. According to statistics, women account for 67 percent of the total number of loan recipients. A total of 38.71 crore loans have been disbursed to women. Additionally, 51 percent of the loans have been granted to the OBC category.
