Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana 2026: Every parent is concerned about their children's future. Parents are concerned about everything from their children's education to their health. To address these concerns, the central and state governments jointly run various schemes.
Today, we're going to tell you about one such scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). It is a welfare initiative launched to help girls and their mothers. Under the PMMVY scheme, the government provides ₹5,000 to pregnant women. The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a central government scheme designed to address the health and nutrition needs of pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Amount disbursed in two installments
Launched in 2017, this scheme aims to promote the safety of mothers during pregnancy, improve their health, and ensure proper nutrition after childbirth. Under this scheme, women are provided financial assistance of up to ₹5,000 for their first child. This amount is disbursed in two installments. The first installment is a financial assistance of ₹3,000 after pregnancy registration and at least one check-up before delivery. The second installment is ₹2,000 after the child's birth.
The scheme benefit (₹6,000) for the second child is available only if the second child is a daughter. This amount is disbursed in a lump sum after the birth of a girl. In this way, an eligible woman receives an average total assistance of ₹6,000-₹11,000.
How to apply?
To benefit from the scheme, a woman must be at least 19 years old and the family's annual income must not exceed ₹8 lakh. To qualify, eligible women must submit their application within 270 days of the child's birth.
Eligible beneficiaries must apply online through the official PMMVY portal https://pmmvy.wcd.gov.in or apply offline at the nearest Anganwadi center or government primary health center. Required documents include an Aadhaar card linked to a bank account, a bank passbook, a ration card or income certificate, and an MCP card.
