Yesterday on 23 July 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for the financial year 2024-25, let us tell you that this was the first budget of the 3.0 term of the Narendra Modi government, unveiled several important initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure and supporting urban and rural development. These include the ambitious expansion of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), which focuses on providing affordable housing across the country, let's know about these schemes-

Expansion of PM Awas Yojana:

A concrete plan has been launched to build three crore additional houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This includes both rural and urban areas. Under PMAY Urban 2.0, the government aims to provide housing to 1 crore urban poor and middle-class families in the next five years.

An investment of Rs 10 lakh crore has been allocated for this scheme, in which the central government will contribute Rs 2.2 lakh crore. Interest subsidies will also be given to ensure affordable loan facilities.

Eligibility Criteria for PMAY Scheme:

Individuals who do not have a permanent home are eligible to avail of this scheme. Poverty Line (BPL) cardholders and low-income people are also covered under this initiative.
