Central Government and State Governments run various types of schemes for the upliftment of their economically weaker people, like the Kisan Yojana, Ayushman Yojana, etc. Recently, given the rising electricity bills on the people, the Central Government has launched Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana. The scheme aims to address the rising cost of electricity faced by citizens, especially during the impending summer season. With solar panels set to be installed in millions of homes across the country, this initiative promises significant relief from rising electricity bills. Here's all you need to know about the scheme -

Relief from expensive electricity: Many states are grappling with the burden of expensive electricity, especially during the summer months when meter readings increase, causing consumers to pay huge bills.

Pradhan Mantri Suryoday Yojana: In response to these challenges, the government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Suryoday Yojana. The scheme involves installing solar panels on the rooftops of one crore poor and middle-class families across the country.

Free electricity allocation: Under this initiative, households equipped with solar panels will get up to 300 units of free electricity, thereby reducing financial stress on households and promoting sustainable energy usage.

Implementation timeline: As the government aims to complete the installation of solar panels in one crore homes by 2027, the scheme is likely to be implemented in multiple phases. It is planned to benefit one crore individuals in the initial phase, with possible expansion in later phases.
