On February 13, 2024, Prime Minister Modi announced on his social media handle, X, that the government will spend Rs 75,000 crore to provide free electricity to 10 million households. The initiative has now reached rural areas and people have started getting its benefits. Although connections for solar plants are not being allotted currently due to the Lok Sabha elections, they will start once the new government is formed. Here's how you can avail the benefits of this scheme.

Scheme Overview

Beneficiaries can avail of a subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 depending on the category to help them install solar panels.
