Scheme Overview:
PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2024.
This scheme has been designed to provide free electricity up to 300 units per month to about 1 crore families across India.
The government provides subsidy for purchasing solar panels under this scheme.
Subsidy Details:
The subsidy amount for a 1 kW solar panel is Rs 30,000.
The subsidy for a 2 kW solar panel is Rs 60,000.
The maximum available subsidy for a 3 kW solar panel is Rs 30,000.
Recent Developments:
As per the latest update, the scheme has received 1.28 crore registrations and 1.4 lakh applications.
Following this announcement, solar energy stock prices saw a significant rise at noon, rising by over 11%.

To apply for the scheme, visit the official portal pmsuryagarh.gov.in.
Click on “Apply for Rooftop Solar” on the homepage.
Select your state and power distribution company.
Enter your mobile number and consumer number, and provide the OTP received on your mobile.
Complete the captcha and submit the application.
