Overview of PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme:
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 February 2024, the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme aims to provide free electricity up to 300 units per month to about 1 crore families across the country.
The government provides the following subsidies under this scheme:
Subsidy of Rs 30,000 for 1 kW solar panel
A subsidy of Rs 60,000 for a 2 kW solar panel
A maximum subsidy of Rs 30,000 for 3 kW solar panel
How to avail:
Visit the official portal pmsuryagarh.gov.in.
Click on "Apply for Rooftop Solar" on the homepage.
Select your state and choose your electricity distribution company from the options given.
Enter your mobile number and consumer number, followed by the OTP received on your mobile, and fill in the captcha.
Click on the submit button to complete the application process.
Before applying online, make sure you have the required documents ready including Aadhaar card, mobile number, electricity bill, ration card, income certificate, photo, affidavit and residence certificate.
