PM Surya Ghar Yojana: Can a Single Household Receive Multiple Solar Subsidies? Know the New Rule
Solar Subsidy: The scourge of intense heat continues across the country. Amidst this, the government has announced a major boon for the general public: now, a single household can receive more than one solar subsidy.
PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme: Amidst scorching heat and power cuts, the government’s ‘PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme’ has emerged as great news for the common people. A question often arises in the minds of most homeowners: if they own multiple houses in their name, or if a single house has more than one electricity connection, can they avail the benefit of a separate subsidy for each connection?
Learn the Key Subsidy Rule Here
According to the Central Government’s official guidelines, the subsidy provided under this scheme will now be linked not to an individual’s name, but specifically to their electricity connection number. Under this scheme, your electricity meter number will serve as the unique identifier. Simply put, if you hold multiple electricity connections in your name, you can apply for a separate subsidy for each connection without any hassle.
Solar Subsidy and Savings
Furthermore, under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, the government provides a 60% subsidy for systems up to 2 kilowatts (kW) and a maximum subsidy of ₹78,000 for systems with a capacity of up to 3 kW. Specifically, the government offers a subsidy of ₹30,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹60,000 for a 2 kW system, and finally, ₹78,000 for systems of 3 kW or higher.
How Can You Apply?
To apply, it is mandatory that you be an Indian citizen, own your own home, and possess a residential electricity connection. To begin, you must first visit the official portal and register your state and consumer number. After logging in and filling out the rooftop solar application form, proceed to have the solar plant installed by a registered vendor once you receive approval from your DISCOM (electricity distribution company).
