PM Surya Ghar Application Rejected: Here’s How to Fix Errors Online

 |
OP

Has your subsidy application for the PM Surya Ghar Yojana been rejected or left pending? Learn about 13 key reasons—such as name mismatches, ALMM panel issues, vendor status, and sanctioned load discrepancies—and the simple steps to rectify them online.

Subsidies under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana often get stalled or rejected due to minor clerical errors or technical glitches. According to the Tata Power website, while lakhs of people have applied for this ambitious central government scheme, many applications fail to get approval due to the strict verification norms enforced by electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) and the national portal. If your application has been rejected, there is no need to panic; most issues can be easily rectified and the application resubmitted.

Non-compliance with Vendor and Solar Panel Norms

Installation by Non-Empanelled Vendors: The subsidy will not be released if the solar system was installed by a local vendor other than those authorized and registered on the MNRE or DISCOM portals. Always choose a vendor registered on the official portal.

Panels Not on the ALMM List: Only solar models and DCR (‘Made in India’) panels included in the government’s ALMM (Approved List of Models and Manufacturers) list are valid under the scheme. If the vendor has installed cheaper or uncertified panels, the report will be rejected.

Issues with Documents and Name Mismatches

Name Discrepancies: The spelling of your name (character-for-character) must be identical across your Aadhaar card, electricity bill, and bank passbook. Even a slight spelling difference or a missing surname can lead to the application being cancelled.

Incorrect Consumer Number and IFSC Code: Entering the meter number instead of the consumer account number (as listed on the electricity bill) causes the system to mark the entry as invalid. Similarly, entering an incorrect or outdated IFSC code for the bank account causes the subsidy transfer (DBT) to fail.

Unclear or incomplete images: Uploading blurry photos of the rooftop, photos of panels lacking serial numbers, or incomplete documents during the commissioning report submission leads the inspection team to mark the application as pending.

Issues related to the connection and sanctioned load

Solar system exceeding sanctioned load: If the sanctioned load on your electricity bill is 2 kW but you have installed a 5 kW solar plant, the DISCOM’s feasibility report will be rejected.

Outstanding electricity bills: If there are any outstanding dues against your electricity connection, the DISCOM will not grant feasibility clearance. Clearing all dues before applying is mandatory.

Incorrect connection category: This scheme is exclusively for residential (domestic) consumers. If your connection is registered under the commercial or agricultural category, the application will be rejected.

Reasons related to bank accounts and property ownership

Lack of Aadhaar seeding (DBT): It is mandatory for your bank account to be linked to your Aadhaar and activated for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on the NPCI mapper.

Joint property and applications without NOC: In cases of joint property ownership or ancestral homes, failure to upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from other co-owners results in a failed ownership verification.

Multiple connections at the same address: Only one subsidy is valid per family or household. Multiple connections at the same address trigger a “duplicate application” flag.
