On July 23, the central government presented the first budget of its 3.0 term, during this time Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave important updates on the Mudra loan while presenting the budget, let us tell you that the limit of the Mudra loan has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, which has made the beneficiaries happy.
Individuals who have previously repaid their Mudra loans will be eligible for this increased limit. The Mudra Loan Scheme, launched to facilitate government-backed financial assistance for small and micro enterprises, operates in three categories. Loans up to Rs 50,000 are available in the Shishu category, Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh in the Kishore category and till now loans from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh were given in the Tarun category.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), Rs 27.75 lakh crore has been disbursed so far, benefiting over 47 crore entrepreneurs, both large and small. Notably, the Finance Ministry reports that 69% of the 44.46 crore loans sanctioned under PMMY have been allocated to women.
These initiatives not only promote economic independence but also aim to uplift women and underprivileged communities, which is a significant step towards inclusive growth and empowerment in the business sector.
