PM Krishi Sinchayee: What is the PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, under which farmers are given subsidies?
PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana: The central government is running several schemes for farmers. If you are a farmer, you must be aware of the PM Kisan Yojana, but there is another scheme that benefits farmers. Very few farmers know about this scheme. Today, we will tell you about this scheme. The name of this scheme is the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY).
The objective of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana is to improve agricultural productivity and ensure better utilization of resources. The "Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana" was launched by the Government of India on July 1, 2015. This scheme primarily focuses on increasing water use efficiency at the farm level through micro-irrigation (drip and sprinkler irrigation systems). In addition, it also supports water storage and water conservation/management activities (other interventions) at the micro-level to help create sources for micro-irrigation.
Who can benefit from this scheme?
All farmers are eligible for PMKSY, but the subsidy amount varies depending on whether they are classified as small and marginal farmers (55% subsidy) or other farmers (45% subsidy). To apply, farmers must have an Aadhaar card, land records (7/12 and 8-A certificate), and other necessary documents, including a caste certificate if applicable and a permanent electricity connection for any pump motor.
To receive a subsidy under the PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, farmers have to apply online on their state's agriculture department portal or offline at their local Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) or agriculture office. The application requires documents such as an Aadhaar card, proof of land ownership, and bank account details. Approved applicants receive the subsidy through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into their bank accounts.
Launched in 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) aims for "water to every field" and "more crop per drop". It expands the irrigation coverage, promotes micro-irrigation (drip and sprinkler) with 55-100% subsidy, improves water bodies, and enhances water use efficiency.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY), farmers receive subsidies, primarily aimed at promoting efficient water use and increasing the irrigated area, thereby boosting crop yields and farmers' income. The scheme aims to make Indian agriculture more sustainable and resilient to climatic challenges like droughts.
How much subsidy is provided?
The pattern of assistance to beneficiaries under the Micro Irrigation Scheme will be 55% for small and marginal farmers and 45% for other farmers, which will be shared by both the Central and State Governments in a 60:40 ratio for all states except the North Eastern and Himalayan states. In the case of these states, the sharing ratio is 90:10. For Union Territories, the funding pattern is 100% by the Central Government.
