PM Kisan Yojana: The next installment of these farmers may get stuck, here

PM Kisan

The Government of India runs the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme to provide direct financial benefits to farmers. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019, the scheme provides annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000 to beneficiary farmers. This amount is distributed directly to the bank accounts of farmers in three installments of Rs 2,000 every four months through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Recent and upcoming installments

Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 17th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme, benefiting about 9 crore farmers across the country. Now, farmers are eagerly waiting for the 18th installment. However, farmers have to complete some mandatory tasks to receive the next installment. Failure to do so may stop their payment.

Mandatory e-KYC for farmers

To continue receiving benefits under the PM-KISAN scheme, farmers are required to complete their e-KYC (electronic know your customer) verification. As per the government guidelines, farmers have to complete this process to receive the next installment. Many farmers who have not yet completed their e-KYC have had their benefits stopped. Therefore, farmers need to complete their e-KYC as soon as possible.

How to complete e-KYC

Farmers can complete their e-KYC both online and offline. For online e-KYC, farmers can use the PM-KISAN app, which allows face authentication using their Aadhaar card and mobile number. Alternatively, for offline e-KYC, farmers have to visit a Common Service Center (CSC), where they can give their details to an operator who will complete the e-KYC process.

Need for Land Verification

There are cases where ineligible farmers are receiving benefits under the scheme. To identify such cases, the government has made land verification mandatory. Farmers should visit their nearest agriculture department office with the required documents to complete the land verification form. Additionally, they can also visit the nearest CSC center to complete the land verification process online.
