PM KISAN Scheme: Major decision on PM Kisan Samman Nidhi; annual ₹6,000 to continue until 2031..

On Friday, the Union Cabinet approved the extension of the PM-Kisan scheme (PM Kisan Samman Nidhi) for the next five years, up to the 2030-31 financial year. This will entail an expenditure of ₹3,15,614 crore. The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme was launched on February 24, 2019, and provides assured income support to farmers across the country. Under this scheme, every eligible farmer family receives financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually.

This amount is transferred directly to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each via 'Direct Benefit Transfer' (DBT). Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed reporters that the Cabinet has extended the PM-Kisan scheme for five years, i.e., until 2030-31. The total budget for this scheme is ₹3,15,614 crore.

Achievements of the PM-KISAN scheme: Government
Under this scheme, an amount exceeding ₹4.47 lakh crore has been transferred directly to farmers' bank accounts across 23 installments.

More than 9.49 crore farmers benefited from the 23rd installment, with over ₹18,984 crore released.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, an amount exceeding ₹1.71 lakh crore was distributed to provide financial assistance to farmers.

Women farmers have received over ₹1.06 lakh crore under PM-KISAN, and approximately one in every four beneficiaries is a woman farmer.

When will the 24th installment of Kisan Samman Nidhi be received?
The 24th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi is expected to be released around October 2026. Under the scheme's rules, the amount is transferred directly to farmers' bank accounts at intervals of four months. The previous (23rd) installment was released on June 20, 2026.
