PM Kisan Samman Nidhi: Will farmers hit the jackpot in Budget 2026? PM Kisan payment expected to increase to ₹9000..
Before the 2026 budget, farmers across the country are awaiting the 22nd installment of PM Kisan in 2026. Farmers have high expectations from the budget. This time, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may make a major announcement regarding the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The Modi government could give a big gift to more than 9 crore farmers in the country. It is expected that the PM Kisan assistance amount will be increased from Rs 6000 to Rs 9000. In fact, in 2024, the Parliamentary Standing Committee had recommended increasing the amount under this scheme to Rs 12,000. Farmer organizations are also demanding an increase in the assistance amount.
Recently, in the Bihar assembly elections, the JDU and BJP alliance had announced that the Karpoori Thakur Kisan Samman Yojana would be implemented after winning the elections. Under this scheme, PM Kisan beneficiaries would receive an additional Rs 3000 annually. Now it is believed that the central government may increase the assistance amount to Rs 9000 across the country. The world's largest DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) scheme, the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, was launched in 2019. However, the amount has not been increased even once since then. Therefore, there is a strong possibility that farmers will receive a significant benefit.
Several states are providing additional assistance.
Apart from the central government's Rs 6000 per year, farmers in several states are also receiving additional assistance from their respective state governments. In Madhya Pradesh (CM Kisan Kalyan Yojana) and Maharashtra (Namo Shetkari Yojana), the state governments provide an additional Rs 6000 each to PM Kisan beneficiaries. Additional assistance is also provided to farmers in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan. In Rajasthan, under the Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, an additional Rs 3000 is given annually.
Will the benefit be included in the 22nd installment of PM Kisan?
If the central government announces an increase in the PM Kisan assistance amount in the budget, the question arises whether this benefit will be included in the 22nd installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which is due in February. We would like to inform you that the possibility of this happening is almost negligible because even if this announcement is made in the budget, it will take time from the issuance of the notification to its implementation. Therefore, the benefits will only be available in the new financial year.
When will the 22nd installment of PM Kisan arrive?
The 21st installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was credited to farmers' accounts on November 19th last year. Now there is speculation about the 22nd installment. It was being said that farmers might receive a gift before the budget. But according to experts, farmers may have to wait until the last week of February. Last time too, the PM Kisan installment was released at the end of February. It is also believed that, like last time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may transfer the money for the 22nd installment from Tamil Nadu or Kerala.
