PM Kisan Samman Nidhi: What is this scheme under which farmers get Rs 6000

After taking oath as Prime Minister for the third time on June 9, on June 10, PM Narendra Modi released the 17th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and gave a gift to more than 9 crore farmers of the country. Under this scheme, Rs 20,000 crore has been transferred to the accounts of farmers. Farmers were eagerly waiting for this installment. After signing the file, PM Modi said that his government is fully committed to the welfare of farmers. Let us understand which farmers get money under this scheme, which farmers are not eligible for this benefit and what is the process of applying for it.

What is PM Kisan Yojana?

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is an important scheme of the Central Government, under which money is deposited directly into the accounts of farmers. According to the current rules, every farmer gets Rs 6,000 annually in three installments of Rs 2,000 every four months. So far the government has distributed money 17 times. You can check if money has been credited to your account by logging on to the official PM Kisan website pmkisan.gov.in. If you have not yet received the benefits of this scheme, you will have to register under it.

How to register for PM Kisan Yojana?

  • Visit pmkisan.gov.in.
  • Click on the 'FarmerCorner' option.
  • Choose the 'New Farmer Registration' option.
  • Choose from 'Rural Farmer Registration' or 'Urban Farmer Registration'.
  • Enter your Aadhaar number, and mobile number, select your state, and click on 'Get OTP'.
  • Enter the OTP and proceed with the registration.
  • Enter your state, district, bank details, and personal details as per your Aadhaar card. Make sure your details match your Aadhaar.
  • Click on 'Submit' for Aadhaar authentication.

Once authenticated, fill in your land details, upload supporting documents, and click on 'Save'. You will receive a confirmation or rejection message on the screen.

How many people in a family can avail of the benefits?

As per the existing rules, only one person in a family, either husband or wife, can avail of PM Kisan. Both cannot get PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. The beneficiary is identified using an electronic database linked to Aadhaar which includes details of all family members. All persons named in the land records are included in the government's database.

Who is not eligible for the benefit?

People with high incomes are not eligible for PM Kisan Yojana. Individuals with institutional land or commercial plots cannot avail of PM Kisan. Former and present ministers/ministers of state, members of Lok Sabha/Rajya Sabha/state legislative assemblies/state legislative councils, and former and present chairpersons of district panchayats are also ineligible. Retired pensioners whose monthly pension is Rs 10,000/- or more (Multi-Tasking Staff/Group IV/Group D employees) cannot avail of the benefit.
