PM Kisan: For millions of farmers across the country, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is not just a government scheme, but a ray of hope. The Rs. 6,000 received annually provides significant support to small farmers. Until now, most farmers believed that if they completed their e-KYC and linked their land records, there would be no problem in receiving the money. However, if you are also sitting back and relaxed thinking this, then be a little cautious. A major change has been made in the rules, and if you don't pay attention to it, your next installment may be withheld. According to media reports, the government has now made 'Farmer ID' mandatory along with e-KYC.

Understand what a 'Farmer ID' is
Media reports indicate that simply updating your KYC will no longer be sufficient. The government has decided to create a digital database of farmers through 'AgriStack'. This means that if you do not have a Farmer ID, the system may exclude you from the list for the next installment. The government's objective is clear: to eliminate middlemen and ensure that the Rs. 2,000 installment reaches only those who are actually working hard in the fields.

What is special about 'Farmer ID'?
You can think of the 'Farmer ID' as a farmer's 'digital profile'. Just as the Aadhaar card identifies you, this ID will provide a complete record of your farming activities. This unique ID will not only contain your name or address. It will record how much land you own, what crops you cultivate, what type of fertilizers you use, and whether you also engage in animal husbandry. This means the government will know at a glance what each farmer is growing. This will also help in resolving shortages of fertilizers, seeds and other problems in the future.

Getting a 'Farmer ID' is very easy
There is no need to panic about this new system. The government knows that not every farmer is an internet expert, so both online and offline options have been provided. If you have basic mobile phone skills, you can register yourself from home by visiting the ‘AgriStack’ website. You will need to complete e-KYC using your Aadhaar card and fill in your farming details. You may also need to scan and upload your land documents.

Alternatively, special camps are being organized in different parts of the country. You can visit one of these camps, show your Aadhaar card and land documents, and the officials will verify your details on the spot and issue you a unique farmer ID.
