PM Kisan: Check these 5 things before the PM Kisan installment; otherwise, the payment could be halted..
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 23rd installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana on Saturday from Tarakeswar, Hooghly, in West Bengal. Under this installment, an amount exceeding ₹18,880 crore will be transferred to the accounts of approximately 9.44 crore farmers. However, it is not guaranteed that every registered farmer will receive the ₹2,000 installment.
Installments can sometimes get stalled due to incomplete e-KYC, discrepancies in Aadhaar and bank account details, or other technical reasons. Therefore, farmers should verify their records in advance.
1. Incomplete e-KYC
e-KYC is mandatory for all beneficiaries of the PM-Kisan scheme. Farmers who have not yet completed their e-KYC may face a delay or stoppage of their installment.
e-KYC can be completed in three ways:
OTP-based e-KYC (via the PM-Kisan portal and mobile app)
Biometric e-KYC (at CSCs and service centers)
Face authentication-based e-KYC (via the PM-Kisan mobile app)
2. Discrepancies between Aadhaar and PM-Kisan records
If details such as your name, date of birth, gender, or Aadhaar number differ between PM-Kisan records and your Aadhaar card, the verification process may fail, preventing the installment from being credited. Even a minor spelling error can lead to the payment being halted.
3. Incorrect bank account details
If the bank account is closed or inactive, the account number entered is incorrect, or it is not properly linked to Aadhaar, the money cannot be transferred via DBT. Farmers should verify their account number, IFSC code, and Aadhaar seeding status.
4. Pending land record verification
Verification of land records is essential to avail the benefits of the PM-Kisan scheme. If land-related documents are incomplete or verification by the state government is pending, the installment may be withheld. Benefits under the scheme will also not be available if agricultural land is being used for non-agricultural purposes.
5. Being found ineligible during verification
Certain categories of individuals are not eligible for the PM-Kisan scheme. These include income taxpayers, serving or retired government employees (excluding certain lower-cadre staff), doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants, and other professionals. If a beneficiary is found ineligible during verification, their installment may be withheld.
What is the PM-Kisan scheme?
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme was launched on February 24, 2019. Under this scheme, eligible farmer families receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually. This amount is transferred directly to the farmers' bank accounts in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months.
How to check your status before the installment is released
Visit the official PM-Kisan website.
Click on the “Know Your Status” option.
Enter your registration number.
Enter the captcha code and generate the OTP.
After entering the OTP, click on “Get Data”.
